There are eight Sporting Spaniel breeds – the Clumber Spaniel, English Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel, English Springer Spaniel, Field Spaniel, Irish Water Spaniel, Sussex Spaniel and Welsh Springer Spaniel. They vary in size from one of the smallest of dog breeds – the American Cocker – to the largest – the Irish Water Spaniel.

(Please bear in mind that all living things can carry defective genes and whilst we are not going to focus on the genetic health of each of the Sporting Spaniel breeds in this site, we encourage everyone who is interested in any of the 8 Spaniel breeds to undertake research both general and specific to each breed.)
